TheaterPeace, a theater company devoted to creating new work with young people to foster humanity and peace, is proud to announce its upcoming production, “Catch Her in the Lie.” In a world filled with adults preaching one thing, but often doing another, how are youth to find the best way to lead their own lives? This will be a hilarious/perilous journey exploring truth, hypocrisy, virtue, and madness. This project will look at the contradictory behavior of adults--politicians, business leaders, athletes, artists, parents, and teachers--as viewed by teen youth. Among the inspirations for the project are "The Catcher in the Rye," Dante's "The Divine Comedy" and "The Simpsons." “Catch Her in the Lie” premieres at Theater for the New City, May 5, 2011 at 8:00 pm and continue for 12 performances--Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 3 pm until May 22nd. Theater for the New City is a legendary theater company, presenting premieres plays by Sam Shepard, Charles Busch, and many others. Philip Suraci has written and directed the acclaimed "Lysistrata's Children" and last May's "Generation buY." For more information on those productions, please browse the TheaterPeace site. “Catch Her in the Lie” will be performed for audiences of students and adults. The mission of TheaterPeace is to create dialogue between youth and adults. Actors examine, write and perform their views on a social issue.
